Dr. Carroll J. Falcon

Dr. Carroll J. FalconDr. Carroll J. Falcon became the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Nicholls State University on July 1, 2004.

A native of Rayne, Louisiana, Falcon earned his bachelor's degree from what was then the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He earned a master's degree and a doctorate from the University of Kentucky.

In his previous position as senior vice president and chief academic officer for the University of Louisiana System, Falcon served a public higher education system of more than 78,000 students and 2,800 full-time faculty members at eight universities, including Nicholls State. He also led the System as acting president and Board secretary from January 1988 to June 2001. Falcon has represented the UL System in numerous national and state committees regarding higher education-related issues.

Before joining the ULS in 1993, Falcon was employed at Nicholls for 25 years as a professor of animal science and during his last 15 years was dean of the College of Life Sciences and Technology.

In the community, Falcon has been a member of numerous civic, school and social organizations and served on the board of directors of the Thibodaux Rotary Club, the Lafourche Parish Fair Association and Leadership Lafourche.

Falcon resides in Thibodaux with his wife Deanna. They are the parents of two grown children.
