Janie Cheramie Pecanty
Janie Cheramie Pecanty is a graduate student originally from Galliano. She has, however, lived in Thibodaux a little over 10 years and enjoys the quaint town very much. Presently, she is completing her M.A. in English at the University of New Orleans.
Pecanty enjoys reading and learning about history, and she always roots for the underdog. She’s a sucker for the story of one who can rise above his unfortunate surroundings, so her favorite books usually deal with marginalized people or outcasts. Pecanty likes autobiographies, memoirs or books that outline a person’s life or journey.
When she is not writing a paper or reading a novel, Pecanty enjoys dining out and socializing with friends and family. She also relishes conversations on history, politics, the media, religion and all the other dominant forces that affect Americans’ decisions and norms. Last, Pecanty is enjoying her new status as a married woman and looks forward to starting a family.
