Assistant Professor of Finance
It is my passion for teaching that has made me join Nicholls State University. I have always considered teaching a skillful application of both art and science. I consider education not an end by itself, but only a means towards the achievement of the end.
My teaching philosophy is based on the idea of stimulation of interest and curiosity in the mind of the students so that they learn by understanding, not by memorizing. Regarding the examinations and tests, I design them to test what students know, not what they do not know.
Besides teaching, academic research has always attracted me. My research interest includes empirical asset pricing, investment analysis, financial markets, international finance, derivatives and corporate finance. Within these broad fields, I am interested in the application of advanced econometric methods.
At the personal level, I try to stick to three basic principles in my life. These are belief, patience and positive attitude. Belief gives me self–confidence, patience keeps me focused on the long term goal and positive attitude helps me come safely through the short term distractions.
