Instructor of Computer Information Systems
As a native of Houma, Louisiana, Mrs. Sherry Rodrigue could not wait to graduate high school and move far away. She attended Louisiana State University, were she earned her BS in Quantitative Business Analysis, with an Information Systems focus and began working as a System’s Analyst for state agency in Baton Rouge.
However, after marrying a Thibodaux native, it was not long before they moved back to their hometown roots. Rodrigue worked as a Lead Computer Trainer and Office Manager at PC Potential, a local computer training center for 5 years.
Rodrigue began her career in Nicholls State in 2000, as a Computer Specialist; responsible for student computer labs, technology classrooms, and other campus technology projects. Over the next few years, she not only worked her way up the ranks in her department to Assistant Director, she also worked on her MBA; which she earned with honors in 2005. If you ask Rodrigue about her experience as a Nicholls’ student, she would tell you, “Coming from a larger university, I enjoyed the smaller class sizes and the fact that the professors actually took time to get to know you and help you. I did not feel like just a number here, but part of a family.”
After earning her MBA, Rodrigue begin adjunct teaching one course a semester for the College of Business (OIS 200) and/or College of Arts & Sciences (CMPS 200). “I enjoy working closely with the students, helping them learn new skills and being part of the process that prepares them for their future.” In August of 2010, Rodrigue took her love for teaching fulltime. She is now a fulltime Instructor of Business for the College of Business.
In her spare time, Rodrigue enjoys spending time with her family (her husband and 2 boys active in sports and outdoor activities), reading, keeping up with technology, and following local sports teams.
