Assistant Professor of Accounting
Dr. Zhang joined Nicholls State University as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in 2014. She received her doctoral degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her primary teaching interests include Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting and Managerial Accounting. Dr. Zhang believes teaching is not only to deliver new knowledge to the students, but also to mentor the students through the learning process. She would like to establish an interactive atmosphere inside and outside the classroom in which mentoring is always available and the students would enjoy learning. Prior to coming to the United States, Dr. Zhang worked in a Chinese state-owned company and a German family firm. She would like to share her experiences in those different types of businesses with her students.
Dr Zhang’s current research interests include capital market research in accounting, financial reporting, social and environmental accounting and executive compensation. She has published in Review of Accounting and Finance. She is a Fellow of 2012 American Accounting Association FARS Doctoral Consortium.
In her spare time, Dr. Zhang enjoys spending time with her family, playing table tennis and biking.
