Dr. Benny Zachry
Professor of Accounting
Even though Dr. Benny Zachry has taught college-level accounting since 1978, his life isn’t totally consumed with keeping up with trends in auditing, accounting information systems and cost/managerial accounting.
Zachry also finds time to participate in the arts and volunteer in his community. Zachry has served as a cast member in Thibodaux Playhouse productions and in “Ivy in the Moss,” a production in honor of Nicholls State University’s 50th anniversary in 1999. He also is a volunteer storekeeper at Laurel Valley Plantation Store and the Habitat for Humanity Home Store in Thibodaux and a member of the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce. In his free time, Zachry also enjoys keeping his vehicles running smoothly and traveling to New York City at least once a year.
Zachry is active in professional accounting organizations as well, holding national memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Accounting Association. He serves on the editorial review board for both the Southwestern Business Administration Journal and the Journal of Academy of Business Administration.
Zachry began his career in academia at Southern Arkansas University, before taking positions at Louisiana Tech University, McNeese State University and Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Zachry joined the Nicholls faculty in 1993.
