Dr. Khurrum Bhutta
Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems
Success in the classroom may be earning an A instead of an F on an examination. Success in the business world is building a competitive company rather than facing bankruptcy. Dr. Khurrum Bhutta strives to make achievements in both environments easier.
Bhutta, associate professor of computer information systems, has been providing Nicholls State University students with the tools needed to succeed in the technology-based information systems field since 2001. Before arriving at Nicholls, Bhutta taught at the University of Texas at Arlington and served as a research associate at Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan.
“What I like most about my job is teaching students and helping them develop skills that are needed to excel in the business world,” Bhutta says. “The cooperation that I have received from other faculty and staff members makes Nicholls a special place.”
One of Bhutta’s most recent research endeavors involves studying why some small- and medium-sized firms perform better than others. Bhutta says the identification of these factors and their eventual application could help smaller companies become more competitive.
Management is not a foreign topic to Bhutta. Prior to earning his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Arlington, he served as the assistant manager of Sarah Textiles Ltd. and as a maintenance engineer of Rupali Polyester Ltd., both in Pakistan.
In his spare time, Bhutta enjoys reading, riding his bicycle with his sons and attempting to garden. He also is an active member of the Decision Sciences Institute and is currently on the Editorial Review Board for the International Journal of Integrated Supply Management.
