Mitch Theriot
Instructor of Business Law
Mitch Theriot jokes with his friends that he’s found the fountain of youth — at Nicholls State University.
“Teaching keeps me young,” Theriot, instructor of business law, says. “I like the contact I have with the students as well as the changes every new semester. I don’t like doing the same thing every day, which is also why I like the forever-changing legal profession.”
Theriot has been a licensed attorney since 1987 and operates his own private practice in Lockport. He is the vice president of the Louisiana City Attorneys Association and a member of the Louisiana Bar Association. Theriot also served two terms as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, from 1992 to 2000.
Theriot began teaching at Nicholls, his alma mater, in 1996. He says he enjoys the small class sizes and good student-to-teacher ratio.
“I like that the College of Business Administration is a small community,” Theriot says. “I’m glad we still have that ‘personal touch’ atmosphere here.”
In his spare time, Theriot enjoys fishing and spending time with his children at soccer and basketball games.
