Like the other visual arts programs, creative photography explores art theory, concepts and professional artistic development, in addition to general photographic ability.

The Nicholls photography program particularly encourages work which engages the future innovation of photography and related practices (such as electronic media, installation, performance) and art that develops out of an informed inquiry into the histories, theories and practices of photography and culture.
