Printmaking

Often artists overlook the expressive possibilities of paper itself and its influence on the printed image.

The Department of Art is home to comprehensive printmaking and papermaking facility. Printmaking includes stone and plate lithography, relief printing, Intaglio, screen-printing and letterpress. Papermaking includes sheet forming, pulp painting and pulp spaying techniques. In 2013 Printmaking was awarded a $36,000.00 Enhancement Grant by the Louisiana Board of Regents for new printing and safety equipment and new stainless steel worktables.

Printmaking also enjoys a close relationship to graphic design, with collaborative projects designed to support both curriculum. The programs share a large format Epson 7900 printer and have letterpress equipment that supports the interests of both fine artists and designers. We also support design students who want to explore materials and surfaces that digital media cannot provide.
