PROJECT: CONTRASTING SHAPES

Contrasting Color Project
1. Students will choose a simple shape to be drawn so that it firs in a 4” x 4” square

2. The student will then make a template of the shape out of poster board or cardboard

3. The student will then divide a 12” x 16” piece of poster board into 12 - 4” x 4” squares.

4. The students will then trace the template in each square keeping the shape in the same attitude in each square.

5. Upon completion of the replication of the shape in each square, the student will be instructed to paint the background of the 4 squares in the 1st row with cool colors, and the objects with warm colors using tempera paints.

6. The student will be instructed to paint the background of the 4 squares in the 2nd row with warm colors, and the objects with cool colors using tempera paints. The colors in the second row should be different from the colors
in the 1st row.

7. Using tempera paints, the student will be instructed to paint the background of the 4 squares in the 3rd row with colors that will be complementary to the color of the shape within the square.
