HIGH SCHOOL, HOUMA

Radial Balance Project Sheet
1. Students will be instructed to use a compass and pencil to lightly draw a 10” circle on a piece of 12” x 18” drawing paper.

2. Using the compass set at the same radius as the circle, students will mark off 6 points evenly spaced on the circumference of the circle.

3. Students will then use a ruler and pencil to connect the points to form a 6-pointed star. Lines should be drawn lightly.

4. Using the hexagon created in the center of the 1st star, the students can use a ruler and pencil to connect the points of the hexagon to create a second star. That process can continue until the shapes get too small to handle. All pencil lines should be drawn lightly.

5. After the stars and hexagons are drawn, student will be instructed to decorate the geometric shapes formed, but all like shapes must be rendered the same way to produce a radial balanced design. The designs will be rendered in pencil colors. The original pencil lines that formed the stars and hexagons should not be seen.
