At-Risk Student Athletes
In August 2007, the Nicholls State University Athletics Department adopted a policy concerning student athletes who are “at risk.” Students are “at risk” if they fall into one of the following categories:
- First semester freshman (regardless of ACT)
- Continuing student athletes with a cumulative GPA less than 2.20
- continuing student athletes whose previous semester GPA was less than 2.5
Student athletes included in one of the previous categories will be notified in writing and will be required to meet six times during the semester with their assigned athletic academic services staff member. Three of these meetings must take place prior to the drop date.
