This is mainly about politics. With the upcomming election, canidates are willing to do anything to get people over to their side and some people are going to believe what ever they say. I personally think that this "gasoline holiday" is a bad idea. Now dont get me wrong, it would be nice to pay a little less for gas, but it will hurt us in the long run. This plan would mske the federal budget deficit to keep on increasing and also cause problems for the federal highway infrastructure fund. If they take the money from other places, whats going to happen when the other places neeed something.

Although saving money on gasoline at the pump sounds like a good idea, in reality that is not happening. If all of our oil refineries in the US are at maximum capacity, suppliers will not be able to meet the increase in consumption of gasoline that this “price break” would generate. If we are at capacity, then the demand for more gasoline, fueled by the decrease in price, will not be met and the consumer can lose in the long run. Politicians are once again trying to buy the support of the voter with false claims of saving them tax money. They are well aware that Americans feel like they are taxed to death so a tax holiday sounds wonderful. What actually may happen is the consumers will bear the burden in the long run, not the oil companies and their stockholders. In truth the increase in demand for gasoline may create a gasoline shortage because our suppliers could not meet the demands of consumers. I see this happening with the tax break. So if there is a tax holiday we must not be too careful to celebrate too early. Higher demands may even bring back the possibility of gas rationing so that the supply can meet the demand. For me I would vote to stay with the status quo and away from the politicians!
