Scope of the Meeting
Thanks to our current sponsors
Past branch meetings have included approximately 200 to 300 microbiologists and educators from the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi (and a few from Texas and Tennessee). These states include five Medical Schools, two Veterinary Schools, Federal labs and about eight other Universities with strong research components. In addition, we also have attendees from some smaller universities with M.S. degrees that emphasize teaching, but also have research with undergraduate and M.S. students from the same three states. Infectious Disease physicians and clinical laboratory professionals from the Regional Hospital Medical Centers and Clinics, and Local, State and Federal Agency professionals who work in applied and environmental microbiology will also be invited. Since many of the attendees from the smaller institutions may not attend the national ASM annual meeting, it affords their students and colleagues an opportunity to network and interact with this larger group of educators/academics. Most poster and oral presentations are by graduate students; approximately 125 presentations in a given year.
