In honor of Rachels love of boiled crawfish and Cajun music, our first annual Rachel’s Crawfish Boil and Cajun Music Jam will be held on Saturday April 13th at the Nicholls State University Farm (located on Thouroughbred Park Drive just off LA Highway 1 down the bayou from campus). The gates will open at 4:00 pm with crawfish served around 5:00. The Poche Vide Playboys will provide live Cajun music (for those not from Louisiana, a Cajun band name that includes Playboys is a literal translation of the boys that play in the band)! We expect everything to be finished at the farm by 9:00 pm, but the group will likely continue the celebration elsewhere!
We are asking for a minimum donation of $35 per person, which will give you access to boiled crawfish (including corn, potatoes, carrots, and mushrooms), drinks (adult and non-adult), and that awesome live Cajun music! All proceeds will go to the Rachel Ianni Memorial Fund to support graduate student travel. Checks should be made out to NSU Foundation (please include Rachel Ianni Fund on the subject line). Checks and cash will be accepted at the door.
Because we want to ensure we have enough crawfish for everyone, we ask those that wish to participate to RSVP by Friday April 5th.
Because we are trying to raise funds, we will gladly accept donations of live crawfish, seasonings, drinks, etc. If you would like to donate any of these items, please contact Quenton Fontenot.
