Research Labs
The Department of Biological Sciences is home to several research laboratories. Laboratory work ranges from the molecular to the organismal scale. Check out the individual labs below:
Bayousphere Research Laboratory - The Bayousphere Research Lab has its roots in fisheries but has expanded into anolis lizards, aquatic mussels and coastal plants. A large part of our research involves fish ecology within the upper Barataria Estuary.
IDEAL Laboratory - The Immunology and Infectious Diseases Laboratory remains active working with bacterial pathogens.
Wetlands and Wildlife Laboratory - The Wetlands and Wildlife Laboratory focuses on functions and processes that are critical to wetland ecosystems, how these systems have been altered by human activities and how they can be restored or conserved. We also focus on wildlife species that depend on these wetland systems and their habitat needs.
