A Houma native, successful young entrepreneur, innovator, amateur golfer, philanthropist and civically engaged leader.
When Werlien turned 16, he was so excited to be legally old enough to get a job. He set out one morning with a stack of resumes ready to conquer the world. What he found when he got to each one of his destinations was disappointing–low wages, little advancement opportunities and jobs specifically designed for teenagers who were generally rumored to be underachievers in the workplace. Werlien knew it wasn’t for him. So, at the age of 16, he started his first business “Valet Car Cleaning: We come to you!”
With a relentless entrepreneurial spirit, he has founded six companies since including Gas Pump TV and Diamond Advertising. Gas Pump TV is a rapidly growing mobile media network that captivates on-the-go consumers with 22” HiDef screens while they fuel. It currently features engaging weather, special news clips, movie previews, paid for commercials, and other entertainment content. Diamond Advertising is a full service marketing, advertising, and technology firm based in Houma.
As an innovator, Werlien has been successful innovating multiple technologies currently seen and many not yet disclosed. Including novel technologies exhibited in Gas Pump TV. Gas Pump TV, can be seen at many gas stations in southeast Louisiana and soon to expand to other parts of the country.
Werlien has found much success on the golf course. He’s traveled the nation and parts of the globe as a competitive golfer even playing in over fifteen pro golf events. Werlien received college scholarship offers from nearly every D1 school in Louisiana and others across the country but he decided to stay local attending and representing Nicholls State University in competition. At Nicholls, Werlien was in the Honors program and studied Business Administration: Pre-Law with minors in marketing, government and humanities.
Werlien has and continues to participate in various philanthropic capacities with the Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence, Terrebonne Parish Economic Development Authority, South Louisiana Economic Council, Junior Achievement and more. He recognizes that with success comes great responsibility, and feels the need to give back and help advance certain causes. Werlien places a high emphasis on civic engagement and holds a strong sense of community participating in various meetings, symposiums, gatherings, luncheons and other events locally. Moreover, he serves at the special request of various boards and committees to help advance goals in the community.
In the rare occurrence that Werlien isn’t churning out hours at the office, networking in the community, meeting with clients, taking calls on his ever-ringing iPhone, or working on his next big idea, he likes to hit the gym and indulge in the sportsman’s paradise that is South Louisiana. You can find him golfing, boating, fishing, hunting or running with his Staffordshire terrier named Diesel.
When Werlien was asked where he sees himself in ten years, he replied, “Hopefully, on a beach retired (laughing).” It is by his positive personality, passion, dreamy nature and perseverance that he has and continues to be successful in his endeavors.
