Scholarships

The following scholarships are available to all business majors. Application forms are available online.  APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY 11:59 PM, SUNDAY, MARCH 15, 2015.  LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

JAMES J. BUQUET SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $400 to one female and one male business student each year. Applicants must have earned at least 75 hours toward their degree, be classified as non-graduating and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients are selected based on activities, GPA and need.

GERALD GASTON COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $1000 ($500 for an undergraduate business major and $500 for a full-time MBA student.) Applicants must be classified as a junior (have between 60 and 89 non-developmental hours of credit) and have a minimum 3.25 GPA. Recipients are selected based on GPA, involvement in student organizations, financial need, financial aid and other scholarships.

L.J. HEBERT JR. BANKING SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $500 to a business major who has an interest in pursuing a banking career. Applicants must be classified as a junior (have between 60 and 89 non-developmental hours of credit) and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients are selected based on GPA and activities.

DR. RIDLEY J. GROS SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $1,500 to one business major. Applicants must be classified as a junior and have a minimum 2.8 GPA. Recipients are selected predominantly on demonstrated leadership and the potential to excel in a leadership position. Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to reapply.

DR. RIDLEY J. GROS, DEAN EMERITUS, SCHOLARSHIP IN MANAGEMENT
This scholarship awards $1,000 ($500 fall and $500 spring) and was created by family and friends of Dr. Ridley J. Gros, Dean Emeritus.  It is awarded to one management major who has earned between 60 and 89 non-development hours of credit.  Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Recipients are selected based on GPA, financial needs, involvement in student organizations, and other scholarships and financial aid.  Previous recipients of this scholarship are eligible to reapply.

NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL FINANCIAL NETWORK SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $750 ($375 fall and $375 spring) to a business junior or non-graduating senior. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Recipients are selected based on GPA, activities and financial need. A one-page essay outlining career goals and interest in financial services is required.

MIKE BAUER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $2250 each year (3  –  $750 awards) to outstanding juniors or non-graduating seniors majoring in finance at Nicholls.  The Mike Bauer Memorial Scholarship is a fully endowed scholarship and was created by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bauer in memory of their son, Mike Bauer, who was an economics major at Nicholls.  Recipients are selected based on character, academic performance and financial need.  Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, based on need & activities.

MR. AND MRS. O.J. CENAC SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $1,000 ($500 fall and $500 spring) to a computer information systems junior or non-graduating senior. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum 3.5 GPA in CIS courses and must have earned 15 credit hours of courses needed to complete the CIS degree. Selection is based on financial need and contribution to the CIS program.

NORMAN SWANNER “BIG BOY” MEMORIAL BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $1,000 each year ($500 fall and $500 spring) to a full time business junior or senior.  Must have graduated from E. D. White or Thibodaux High School and be a resident of Lafourche Parish. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

GLENN WALTERS MARKETING SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $300 to a marketing junior, who has earned between 60 and 89 non-developmental hours of credit. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients are selected based on GPA.

IRVIN RYKER FINANCIAL PLANNING SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $1,000 to a student in a field that could lead to a career in financial planning.  Must demonstrate an interest in financial planning in a brief one-page essay.  Have achieved junior standing and have a minimum of two semesters remaining before graduation; Have a GPA of 3.0 or better; Be a first generation college student (Neither parent shall have graduated from college); If no applicant meets these criteria, other applicants may be considered; Must demonstrate financial need.

KLEEN FAMILY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN BUSINESS
This scholarship awards $1,150 ($575 fall & $575 spring) to a student achieving junior status upon completion of term of application; Full-time student enrolled in the College of Business; Non-traditional student (At least 24 years of age, delayed college enrollment after finishing high school or who has returned after an extended period of time, is considered financially independent for purposes of determining financial aid, works full-time or part-time, or who may be a single parent); 2.75 minimum GPA.   Award could be for 2 semesters if recipient is a senior and maintains GPA; or 4 semesters total if recipient is a junior and maintains GPA.

ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR ACCOUNTING MAJORS .

Students are encouraged to apply for a variety of other local, state and national scholarships through the Financial Aid Office.
