The following scholarships are available to all business majors. Application forms are available online. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY 4:30 pm, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20, 2013. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
JAMES J. BUQUET SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $500 to one female and one male business student each year. Applicants must have earned at least 75 hours toward their degree, be classified as non-graduating and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients are selected based on activities, GPA and need.
GERALD GASTON COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP
This program awards up to four $1,000 scholarships for undergraduate business majors and one for a full-time MBA student. Applicants must be classified as a junior (have between 60 and 89 non-developmental hours of credit) and have a minimum 3.25 GPA. Recipients are selected based on GPA, involvement in student organizations, financial need and other scholarships and financial aid.
L.J. HEBERT JR. BANKING SCHOLARSHIP
This $250 scholarship is awarded to a business major who has an interest in pursuing a banking career. Applicants must be classified as a junior (have between 60 and 89 non-developmental hours of credit) and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients are selected based on GPA and activities.
DR. RIDLEY J. GROS SCHOLARSHIP
This $1,500 scholarship is awarded to one business junior. Applicants must have a minimum 2.8 GPA. Recipients are selected predominantly on demonstrated leadership and the potential to excel in a leadership position. Previous recipients of the scholarship are not eligible to reapply.
DR. RIDLEY J. GROS, DEAN EMERITUS, SCHOLARSHIP IN MANAGEMENT
This scholarship program was created by family and friends of Dr. Ridley J. Gros, Dean Emeritus. The scholarship awards $1,000 per academic year ($500 fall and $500 spring) to one management major who has earned between 60 and 89 non-development hours of credit. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients are selected based on GPA, financial needs, involvement in student organizations, and other scholarships and financial aid. Previous recipients of the scholarship are eligible to reapply.
NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL FINANCIAL NETWORK SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship awards $1,000 in the fall and $1,000 in the spring to a business junior or non-graduating senior. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Recipients are selected based on GPA, activities and financial need. A one-page essay outlining career goals and interest in financial services is required.
MIKE BAUER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Mike Bauer Memorial Scholarship is a fully endowed scholarship. The scholarship program was created by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bauer in memory of their son, Mike Bauer, who was an economics major at Nicholls. The program presently awards a $900 scholarship each year. Applicants must be outstanding juniors or non-graduating seniors majoring in finance at Nicholls. Recipients are selected based on character, academic performance and financial need.
MR. AND MRS. O.J. CENAC SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards $500 in the fall and $500 in the spring to a computer information systems junior or non-graduating senior. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum 3.5 GPA in CIS courses and must have earned 15 credit hours of courses needed to complete the CIS degree. Selection is based on financial need and contribution to the CIS program.
NORMAN SWANNER “BIG BOY” MEMORIAL BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship awards two recipients a $500 scholarship. One will be awarded in the fall and one awarded in the spring. Open to all business majors, full-time students, sophomore or junior standing, graduates of ED White or Thibodaux High School and resident of Lafourche Parish. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
GLENN WALTERS MARKETING SCHOLARSHIP
This $1,000 award is presented to a marketing junior, who has earned between 60 and 89 non-developmental hours of credit. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients are selected based on GPA
IRVIN RYKER FINANCIAL PLANNING SCHOLARSHIP
$1000 Fall; Major in a field that could lead to a career in financial planning. Demonstrate an interest in financial planning in a brief one-page essay. Have achieved junior standing and have a minimum of two semesters remaining before graduation; Have a GPA of 3.0 or better; Be a first generation college student (Neither parent shall have graduated from college); If no applicant meets these criteria, other applicants may be considered; Must demonstrate financial need.
KLEEN FAMILY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN BUSINESS
$375 fall semester; Must achieve junior upon completion of term of application; Full-time student enrolled in the College of Business; Non-traditional student (At least 24 years of age, delayed college enrollment after finishing high school or who has returned after an extended period of time, is considered financially independent for purposes of determining financial aid, works full-time or part-time, or who may be a single parent); 2.75 minimum GPA. 2 semesters if recipient is a senior and maintains GPA; or 4 semesters total if recipient is a junior and maintains GPA.
CLIFF GRESHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
$800 per semester will be awarded to one student for one year. The recipient must be a full time business major with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must maintain a 3.0 GPA to receive the award for the following semester. Applicant must be of junior standing at the time of receipt of the scholarship. Two letters of recommendation must accompany the application.
