    Nicholls Students for Life will host a discussion on pro-life led by Kelsey Hazzard, president of Secular Pro-Life, an organization that uses non-religious arguments to advocate against abortion from a scientific and human rights perspective. Hazzard will discuss how atheists, agnostics and other non-traditional pro-lifers can get involved in the movement.

    The Nicholls Center for Bayou Studies, International Film Club and Student Programming Association will host the Glen Pitre and Michelle Benoit Film Festival, featuring three nights of films produced and directed by the local filmmakers. "Belizaire the Cajun" (1986) is an award-winning romantic adventure centered on Belizaire Breaux, a Cajun man who attempts to save a friend's life, win a woman's heart, stop corruption, expose a villain and rescue the inheritance of orphaned children. Free and open to the public.

Swihart has performed with the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra and Seattle Opera Orchestra among other prominent groups. He specializes in high brass, music technology and music theory.

    During African-American History Month, Galliano Dining Hall will feature a special themed cuisine on Wednesdays. Lunch is $7.39 plus tax for guests without a meal plan. The first Malay people in South Africa were brought as slaves from what is now Indonesia. As a result of the influence of the Malay and West Asians from the Indian sub-continent who came later, many curry dishes are popular in South Africa.

"The Scoundrel's Wife" (2002) tells the story of a widow raising two teenagers in a Gulf Coast community and facing much local gossip since the passing of her late husband.     RELATE is an open-mic venue for students, faculty and the public to share poetry, monologue, music or dance performances based on the evening's chosen theme: Origin. The event will feature Kataalyst Alcindor, a New Orleans poet whose work focuses on the people, culture and history of his beloved native city. As the three-time National Poetry Slam Champion, Alcindor is one of the Big Easy’s most influential young artistic voices. He has performed his work on some of the nation’s most renowned stages, including the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as part of the NAACP Image Award-nominated show Lexus Verses & Flow.

    The Nicholls Center for Bayou Studies, International Film Club and Student Programming Association will host the Glen Pitre and Michelle Benoit Film Festival, featuring three nights of films produced and directed by the local filmmakers. “American Creole” (2006) is a documentary chronicling New Orleans jazz musician Don Vappie following Hurricane Katrina. “Good for What Ails You” (1998) follows Louisiana’s “treaters” as they continue the tradition of faith healing.     The Science Olympiad is an opportunity for junior high and high school students to illustrate their knowledge of science, meet other students and win awards. Students compete in two divisions: Division B for grades 6-9 and Division C for grades 9-12. The events cover various scientific topics such as air trajectory, food science, fossils, meteorology, wind power and much more.   • African-American-Themed Cuisine: Grilled Tilapia and Caakiri

    During African-American History Month, Galliano Dining Hall will feature a special themed cuisine on Wednesdays. Lunch is $7.39 plus tax for guests without a meal plan. Many species of Tilapia are native to the lakes and rivers of Africa, where it is often called Ngege. Tilapia is best known for being easy to raise and harvest in man-made ponds. Caakiri is a snack or dessert from Western Africa. It is similar to the rice puddings of the Middle East and India. Today, it is most often made with Couscous, but traditionally it was made with similar products composed of African grains such as fonio and millet, maize or even black-eyed peas.
