Office: 107 Gouaux Hall MISSIONThe College of Life Sciences and Technology provides opportunities for students to develop a foundation of general learning that is strengthened and supported by in-depth knowledge of the students' chosen disciplines. The college prepares its students to accept professional responsibilities and to develop and maintain high intellectual, social and ethical standards. The specific purposes of the College are as follows:
DEGREES AWARDED
ACCREDITATIONThe Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is nationally accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. The Department of Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Associate of Science in Nursing, are accredited by the National League for Nursing. The Nursing Continuing Education Program is an accredited provider by the American Nurses Association's Board of Accreditation. The Department of Allied Health Sciences and its associated programs are nationally accredited and certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, the Cytotechnology Programs Review Committee of the American Society of Cytopathology, the National Healthcareer Association, and the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions. GENERAL INFORMATIONThe programs within the College of Life
Sciences and Technology include
pre-professional as well as professional
curricula. Concentrations within the
programs of study are diverse and
innovative, preparing students for transfer
to professional schools or for graduate
study. GENERAL REQUIREMENTSMinimum requirements for the degrees offered within the College conform to the University's General Education Degree Requirements. In addition, the student shall:
NOTE: Each student enrolled in a four-year degree program is reminded of the following University requirement: For students to graduate with a bachelor's degree, they must have earned 45 hours in courses numbered 300 or above. Several programs of study require selective enrollment ─ nursing, cardiopulmonary care, emergency medical services paramedic, cytotechnology. |
