MISSION

The College of Life Sciences and Technology provides opportunities for students to develop a foundation of general learning that is strengthened and supported by in‑depth knowledge of the students' chosen disciplines.  The college prepares its students to accept professional responsibilities and to develop and maintain high intellectual, social and ethical standards.

The specific purposes of the College are as follows:

  1. Stimulate the intellectual development of its students.
  2. Provide for optimal personal and professional development based upon aptitudes, abilities, and interests.
  3. Seek and develop opportunities for research.
  4. Help students acquire the necessary qualifications and skills needed for employment or advanced study.
  5. Encourage involvement in academic and community functions.

ACCREDITATION

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is nationally accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The Department of Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Associate of Science in Nursing, are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.  The Nursing Continuing Education Program is an accredited provider by the American Nurses Association's Board of Accreditation.

The Department of Allied Health Sciences and its associated programs are nationally accredited and certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, the Cytotechnology Programs Review Committee of the American Society of Cytopathology, the National Healthcareer Association, and the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions.

  
GENERAL INFORMATION

The programs within the College of Life Sciences and Technology include pre-professional as well as professional curricula.  Concentrations within the programs of study are diverse and innovative, preparing students for transfer to professional schools or for graduate study.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements for the degrees offered within the College conform to the University's General Education Degree Requirements.  In addition, the student shall:

  1. Complete satisfactorily one of the curricula offered by the College.

  2. Earn a minimum grade of C or better in course work in the major or as specified by the curriculum.  Grade requirements in the minor fields are stated in each specific curriculum.

  3. Earn a grade of C or better in ENGL 101, 102, and 368.

NOTE:  Each student enrolled in a four-year degree program is reminded of the following University requirement: For students to graduate with a bachelor's degree, they must have earned 45 hours in courses numbered 300 or above.  Several programs of study require selective enrollment - nursing, cardiopulmonary care, emergency medical services paramedic, cytotechnology.
