The university awards one degree from this department: the Bachelor of Arts in English.  A student earning this degree must meet the minimum requirements for graduation from the College of Arts and Sciences in addition to the requirements listed below for a major in English.

The Department of Languages and Literature offers minors in English, French and Spanish. All minors in the Department require 24 hours with a minimum grade of C in each course.   No native speaker of a foreign language may receive credit for course work in that language on the 100- or 200-level.

French Minor

A minor in French requires the completion of 24 semester hours with a minimum grade of C in all courses in French to include FREN 101, 102, 201, 202, 325, 326 and 6 semester hours of French electives from courses numbered 300 or above.

 Spanish Minor

A minor in Spanish requires the completion of 24 semester hours with a minimum grade of C in all courses in Spanish to include SPAN 101, 102, 201, 202, 312, 318, 324, and 3 semester hours of a Spanish elective from courses numbered 300 or above.
