AHSC 220. Pathophysiology. 3-3-0. Prerequisites: C or better in BIOL 114, 115, 116, and 117. Systems approach which identifies, characterizes, and analyzes physiological alterations in the functions of the human body. Emphasis on the alterations of normal physiology and the various ways alterations are manifested. (51.0901)

AHSC 221. Pharmacology. 3-3-0. Prerequisites: C or better in BIOL 114, 115, 116, and 117. Underlying principles of actions of various drug groups; sources, physical and chemical properties, physiological actions, absorption rate, excretion, therapeutic uses, side effects, and toxicity. Emphasis on fundamental concepts applying to actions of most drugs. (51.0901)

AHSC 406. Advanced Pulmonary Laboratory Science. 3-2-3. Prerequisite: Credit or registration in RSPT 301. Theory and clinical application of principles and techniques used in the evaluation of pulmonary function and sleep-related respiratory disorders. This course is also available via Internet. AHSC 408. Medical Conditions. 3-3-0. Student must be enrolled in course by the Department of Allied Health Sciences. Prerequisites: C or better in BIOL 114, 115, 116, 117, ENGL 102, and MATH sequence. Medical illnesses with emphasis on conditions/diseases that touch the life of every individual. Open to all majors. AHSC 410. Clinical Human Performance Laboratory. 3-2-3. Prerequisite: C or better in HPED 360. Laboratory techniques in human performance, physical fitness testing, clinical exercise stress testing, and the physiology of exercise. Sp only. (31.0505)

AHSC 412. Clinical Experience in Professional Health Care Setting. 2-0-10. Student must be enrolled in course by the Department of Allied Health Sciences. Prerequisites: C or better in AHSC 408. AHSC 425. Special Topics in Allied Health Sciences. 3-3-0. Student must be enrolled in course by the Department of Allied Health Sciences.   Prerequisites: Junior standing, completion of all General Education Requirements and permission of instructor. In-depth review of selected health care topics within the allied health discipline. May be repeated for credit if content differs, but not more than six semester hours can be applied toward degree requirements. (51.09999)

AHSC 436. Clinical Experience in Health and Wellness Sciences. 2-0-10. Student must be enrolled in course by the Department of Allied Health Sciences. Prerequisites: C or better in AHSC 408 and completion of General Education Requirements. Supervised practicum in a health and wellness clinical setting at an approved facility. A multidisciplinary approach to the role(s) of allied health professionals in the delivery of health care services. Prerequisite: Completion of 60 hours of non-developmental coursework Multidisciplinary approach to selected topics, readings, discussions, projects, and papers on various aspects of health care related to the allied health professional.
