2010 SUMMER SESSION

The terms and dates for Summer Session are as follows:

Full Term: 06-02-10 to 08-02-10

Mini-A: 06-02-10 to 06-30-10

Mini-B: 07-1-10 to 08-02-10

For registration in Full Term and Mini Term A in any combination – (1) Full Term only; (2) Mini Term A only; (3) Full Term and Mini Term A and/or Mini Term B; (4) Mini Term A and Mini Term B:   Students registering on or before May 28, 2010, must activate or flag their schedule by 4:15 p.m.   May 28, 2010, or ALL schedules will be canceled and re-registration will be required.

For registration in ONLY Mini Term B:   Students registering on or before June 28, 2010 must activate or flag their Mini Term B schedule by 4:15 p.m. June 28, 2010, or their Mini Term B schedule will be canceled and re-registration will be required.

10 2009 Summer session class cancellations determined by early registration enrollment as of this date.
15 Spring 2010 commencement.

1 Regular registration ends and late registration begins for Full Term and Mini Term A at 4:15 p.m.
2 Classes begin for Full Term and Mini  A Term.

Registration for Mini B Term continues ONLY in Registrar’s Office.
7 Statistics Day for Mini A Term.
11 Statistics day for Full Term.
21 Last day to drop or resign with a W from Mini A Term.
28 Final exams for Mini Term A day and evening classes.
Schedule for Mini Term B will be cancelled if not  activated by 4:15 p.m.

5 Independence Day holiday; university closed.
6 Classes resume for Mini Term B and Full Term.
7 Statistics day for Mini Term B.
Final date to submit thesis for final committee approval.
Final date to apply for summer diploma.
Last day to drop or resign with a W from Full Term.
9 Graduate comprehensive examinations.
19 Last day to drop or resign with a W from Mini Term B.
Final date for filing approved thesis.
22 Final exams for Full Term TTh evening classes.
26 Final exams for Full Term MW evening classes.
28 Final exams for Mini Term B night classes.
Final exam for Full Term sections 1AB, 2AB, 5AB and 6AB.

NEW POLICY – EFFECTIVE WITH THE FALL 2010 SEMESTER, STUDENTS WILL NO LONGER BE REQUIRED TO ACTIVATE THEIR SCHEDULES.   UPON REGISTRATION, STUDENTS WILL BE ENTITLED TO ATTEND SCHEDULED CLASSES AND ARE IMMEIDATELY INDEBTED TO THE UNIVERSITY AND OBLIGATED TO PAY ALL TUITION AND FEES ASSOCIATED WITH REGISTRATION.

TO BE RELEASED FROM THIS FINANCIAL OBLIGATION AND SUBSEQUENT INDEBETEDNESS, A STUDENT MUST “UNREGISTER” BY 4:15 P.M OF THE LAST BUSINESS DAY BEFORE CLASSES BEGIN.

17 Transfer student seminar.
Regular registration ends and Web registration closes at 4:15 p.m.
Late registration and Administrative Drop/Add begin at 4:15 p.m. All registration activity after 4:15 p.m. will occur in the Registrar’s Office.
Student must register by 4:15 p.m. to avoid late registration charge.
Student must “unregister” by 4:15 p.m. to avoid partial refund and processing charge.
Student must pay tuition and fees by 4:15 p.m. to avoid late payment charge.
18 Classes begin.
SEPTEMBER 2010
6 Labor Day holiday; university closed.
7 Classes resume.
Final date to apply for graduation for fall commencement.
Census date.
OCTOBER 2010
1 To receive priority consideration for the upcoming Spring semester, the Office of Financial Aid must receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) by October 31. Please submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than October 1 to ensure that Nicholls has received your financial aid application by the deadline date.
11 7th week grades available for students.
14-15 Fall break; no classes
25 Advising for winter session and spring semester begins
NOVEMBER 2010
1 Final date for automatic W when dropping a course or resigning from the university.
2 Registration for  winter session and early registration for spring semester begins
8 Graduate comprehensive examinations
17 Final date to submit thesis for final committee approval
22-26 Thanksigiving holidays; university closed.
30 Last day of classes.
Final date for filing approved thesis.
DECEMBER 2010
1 Study Day; faculty available.
Final exam for Wednesday evening class may be given this date.
2 Final examinations begin.
8 Final examinations end.
9 Final grades due for all students at 9:00 a.m.
11 Commencement for summer and fall graduates at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Fall semester ends.
17 University closes at 4:30 p.m. for Christmas Holidays
