The Nicholls State Cheerleading Squad is an all coed team. There will be open practices at the end of each semester for potential new squad members to attend. This is the time for practicing with current members and extra practice for tryouts.

Cheerleading Skill Requirements:

Females:

1. Must have a standing back handspring and toe touch back handspring.
2. Must have a running roundoff back handspring.
3. Must have a solid hands press to extension and liberty.
4. Must be able to stunt with more than one partner.
5. Must be personable and outgoing.
6. Must be coachable and easy to work with.

Cheerleader Expectations:

1. Must be enrolled as a full time student at Nicholls State University.Maintain a 2.5 grade point average every semester
2. Attend all practices, games and other scheduled events.
3. Follow all Guidelines as detailed in the Nicholls Cheerleading Rules and Regulations.
4. A physical must be completed prior to first practice.
5. Participate in fundraising activities to support the program.

Duties of a Nicholls State Cheerleader:

1. Must perform at all Nicholls athletic events, including football, both men and women’s conference basketball games, conference volleyball games, and any other events requested.
2. Must make all other appearances, as informed.
3. Must attend all practices.

*Any unexcused absences will result in reduction of scholarship money.
