Computer information systems professionals help organizations to use technology effectively and to incorporate rapidly changing technologies into their existing systems. The work of computer information systems professional has been evolving rapidly, reflecting new areas of specialization and changes in technology.
The computer information systems program at Nicholls State University prepares students to enter such cutting-edge careers by teaching them technical and managerial skills while offering students opportunities for hands-on experience in and out side the classroom working with our industry partners such as IBM, Microsoft, and ExxonMobil.
The strength of the Nicholls State University CIS program is its well-qualified and caring faculty members. Students are able to interact with faculty members on a one-on-one basis when necessary. Access to a range of state-of-the-art computers ranging from microcomputers to mainframes is available over the campus-wide network.

Minor
To obtain a minor in Information Systems, students must complete CIS 231 and 15 credit hours to be chosen from CIS electives or ACCT 351 (for a total of 18 credit hours). The program of study leading to a minor in IS is designed based on student’s professional interest. Students must earn at least a grade of ‘C’ in all Computer Information Systems courses.
