The communicative disorders curriculum combines general courses; speech science, language and hearing courses; and clinical experience. Communicative disorders courses focus on language disorders, speech disorders, hearing defects and treatments.
Students graduate with a minimum of 100 hours of clinical experience from the Jo Carol Nolen Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic on campus in Talbot Hall and affiliate off-sites. Students perform observations and work directly with clients needing speech, language or hearing evaluations and/or therapy. The communicative disorders program is a member of the National Academy of Pre-Professional Programs in Communicative Disorders and Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
