Dr. Seth Kunen is a psychologist with 20 plus years in the Baton Rouge, LA area. He specializes in Depression, Anxiety, Dissociative Disorders and Mood Disorders

Layne Mistretta, MSN,RN,CEN is Clinical Educator/Lean Facilitator, Emergency Department/Oncology Services at East Jefferson General Hospital

Tommie Landry Jr. MSN, RN. is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Nicholls State University with many years as an Emergency Department Nurse.

Tanya Schreiber, DNS, APRN is an Associate Professor/Mary Danos Professorship in Nursing and the Graduate Program Coordinator

The goal of this educational activity is to provide an update of the challenges that may be
Associated with providing care to the client who enters through the Emergency
Department and is then transferred to the floor or unit. Upon completion the learner will
identify challenges associated with the patient with psychiatric problems as a
co-morbidity and incorporate best practice measures to improve nursing care; review
current research related to wound prevention in the Emergency Department and beyond,
identify proper treatment modalities for pain according to new research, and discuss how
to care for patients under the influence, recognize visible and invisible injury patterns in
Veterans, and explain how to improve palliative and end of life care. The target
audience is RN’s.
