Understanding Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Therapies in the Care of Cardiopulmonary Clients

TIME: 8 a.m. (registration) until 3:30 p.m. (education activity ends)

CREDIT: 5.5 contact hours

COST: Fee includes continental breakfast, break refreshments and handouts

  • $20 for Nicholls faculty and staff
  • $20 for Nicholls students
  • $10 late registration fee for registering less than seven days prior to education activity

SPEAKER: Juli Daniels PhD, CCRN has been actively involved for over 26 years as a mentor and advocate for nurses to achieve clinical and administrative excellence. She has held clinical and administrative positions as Director of Critical Care, Cardiovascular, and Respiratory Services. She has also held the position of Assistant Vice President for Patient Care Services. Dr. Daniels has experience as a university Nursing Instructor for ADN, BSN, and MSN nursing programs. Her most recent accomplishment includes serving as Dean for Health Professions at Florida Keys Community College and is courtesy faculty at the University of Miami. In addition, Dr. Daniels serves hospitals as a national consultant focusing on clinical leadership excellence and JCAHO readiness. She also serves universities as a NLNAC program evaluator. She has published in refereed journals and is the Chief Operating Officer and Research Strategist for the Compassionate Care Model which focuses research initiatives on “Caring for the Caregiver.” Dr. Daniels also serves as consultant for many healthcare organizations including Duke University, Lee Memorial Health System, HCA Healthcare, and Health Management Associates (HMA).

DESCRIPTION: The goal of this continuing nursing education activity is to enhance the theoretical and clinical application of traditional and complementary therapies to nursing care of individuals with chronic cardiopulmonary diseases. Application and impact of conventional and alternative therapies related to disease states (emergent versus acute versus chronic), environmental, pharmacological, and nutritional therapies will be explored. Attendees will broaden their understanding of therapies beyond the traditional; and will answer the question, “What else can I do for my patient?”
