DESCRIPTION: The focus of this activity is on the management of clients with anxiety disorders; the suicidal patient and the management of violence in the school setting. Mental health issues face any medical professional in today’s stressful world. The morning session will include the diagnosis, etiology and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, focusing on PTSD. There will be a multimedia presentation of a real world example of a young veteran with  PTSD to help clinicians understand the symptoms of this all too common disorder. The  afternoon session will include how to deal with the suicidal patient in a variety of clinical settings, and close with a discussion on another timely subject: violence in the school aged children, focusing on victims and at risk youth as well. All participants will provide clinical examples to provide practical applications. The program is for all health care providers practicing in any setting.
