Cardiology Update 2008: Time for a Review of What’s New in Interventional Cardiology

SPEAKER: Dr. Peter Fail MD was educated at the University of South Florida and the American University of the Caribbean in the British Indies. He has served as chief fellow of interventional cardiology and director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at the Episcopal Heart Institute in Philadelphia, and he has taught as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine and the Allegheny Health Science School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Currently, Dr. Fail is the director of cardiac catheterization laboratories, interventional research and CT imaging for Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Houma, LA. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, and has written or coauthored numerous research papers, abstracts, book chapters and medical presentations.
Rebecca Lyons MSN, RN, CCRN is the Department Head for Nursing and the BSN Program Director at Nicholls State University, as well as an Assistant Professor of Nursing. With over 20 years in professional nursing, Ms. Lyons has worked extensively in critical care environments as a provider of care, manager, and educator. She has participated extensively in the care of cardiovascular clients in South Louisiana.
DESCRIPTION: It’s time for an update! Cardiovascular and peripheral vascular care is a rapidly changing area in our current health system. Advances are being made and you need to know what they are. Join Dr. Peter Fail and Ms. Rebecca Lyons for the latest and greatest information on the care of the patient undergoing interventional cardiology procedures. Topics will include fixing the leaks, repairing the obstructions, removing the blocks and caring for these patients in post-procedure. This continuing nursing education activity is for all registered nurses in the acute care setting including the emergency department, intensive care unit, adult health unit, and same day surgery.
