Trends in Plastic Surgery and Dermatology: Implications for Nursing

SPEAKER: Dr. David Jansen, MD was educated at University of California at San Diego and Northwestern University Medical School at Chicago. He spent one year abroad training at University of Canterbury in England, and has completed postgraduate training at Cook County Hospital Medical Center of Illinois and Baylor College of Medicine in Texas. Dr. Jansen has received numerous awards in his field including Best Teacher awards for his work at Tulane University School of Medicine, recognition as one of the 100 Best Doctors in America, listing as Best Doctor for Women-Coast to Coast in Ladies Home Journal, and recognition in the Top Surgeons edition of New Orleans Magazine. Dr. Jansen has an extensive resume’ of presentations at the local and national levels, is widely published in professional journals, and is heavily involved in multiple ongoing research programs.
Dr. Lee Grafton, MD was educated at Louisiana Tech University at Ruston and Louisiana State University Medical Center at Shreveport. Dr. Grafton served as Chief Resident during his Dermatology Residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center. Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, he remains active in multiple professional organizations including American Academy of Dermatology, Southern Medical Association, and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Grafton has published on Occupational Skin Diseases, among other topics, and is the owner of Grafton Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery.
Todd M Keller MSN, RN has over thirteen years of professional experience in emergency, intensive care, and outpatient surgery nursing. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Nursing and Director of Continuing Education and Faculty Development for the College of Nursing and Allied Health at Nicholls State University.
DESCRIPTION: The goal of this continuing nursing education activity is to assist nurses in educating patients on options for improving their appearance, enhance the nurse’s knowledge and skills in caring for the patient having plastic and dermatologic surgery/procedures, and recognition and prevention of skin cancer. This CNE activity is for all nurses caring for patients. Early registration is recommended-seats are limited. The following topics will be covered:
