2012 Annual Plan Results

Continuing Education (CEP)

 

Mission: The mission of the Office of Continuing Education is to further the University’s mission of providing learning experiences to a unique and multi-cultural community through education and community service.  This office acts as a representative agent of the University in contracting and providing quality educational programming and conferencing services to clients from both the private and public sectors.

 

Goal 1:            Revise and update the CEP Marketing Plan to grow the Adult programs, especially the conference aspects. 

Action:   Work with local companies to identify their conferencing needs.  Connect with the Chamber of Commerce to establish a relationship that will market our conference capabilities to the business community.

Goal 2:            Monitor budgets closely to reduce expense as well as distribute our resources and labor appropriately.

Action: Now that CEP staff is familiar with the camps and how they need to run, we will concentrate on ways to reduce expenses.  Revenue and expenses will be monitored more closely and recorded in a timelier manner.

Goal 3:            Upgrade program management software.

Action: It is vital that Continuing Education have a reliable system to track registrations, payments, expenses and mailing databases.  The program we researched and want to attain is called AceWare.

Goal 4:            Increase total number of evaluations handed out and assessed for summer programs.  And evaluate camps accordingly.

Action: Update all summer camp evaluations.  Put a plan in place to make sure they are handed out at the close of each camp.  Results also need to be recorded in Peopleware.

Goal 5:            Develop an office wide recycling initiative.

Action: In order to support the Universities Green Initiative CEP will contribute by requiring that all copy paper that would normally go in the trash, now be directed to recycle bins.  Each desk will have a recycle bin as well as a trash can.

Goal 6:            Develop Best Practice Strategies with regards to HR policies for summer hiring.

Action: It was recognized during the CAS study that CEP adheres to some HR policies that are not conducive for this department.  Some of the hiring paperwork and processes are exorbitant and decreases the efficiency of our work.   CEP will set up meetings with HR, read and interpret documents and policies, implement best practices for CEP’s unique situation, and use findings to implement improvements.
