Music Lessons for the Community
Would you like to learn to sing or to play an instrument? If so, join the newly created Nicholls Music Academy, and receive high quality instruction from outstanding music majors and Nicholls State faculty.
This program is open to all levels of study. Students will receive 12 weekly lessons throughout the semester and will be able to participate in a final recital on the stage of Talbot Theater.
Nicholls State University Music Majors will participate as interns in the Academy. The students’ instruction and progress will be overseen by a member of the Nicholls Music Faculty. This will include selection of the student’s repertoire as well as diagnosing and finding solutions for individual student’s problems.
Instruction by members of the Nicholls State University Faculty is available in Piano and Violin:
Pianist Luciana Soares has received many awards in national competitions in her native Brazil and appears frequently as both soloist and collaborative pianist at concert halls throughout Brazil and the United States. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Southern Mississippi, and currently serves as Assistant Professor of Piano at Nicholls State University.
James Alexander is a former principal of the Southwest German and St. Gallen, Switzerland Symphony Orchestras.
