Performing Arts Camp

Sign up your up-and-coming singers, actors, and dancers to perform in our Performing Arts Camp. Youth will have daily classes in various topics related to theatre such as lighting, sound, hair and makeup, costume, construction, improvisation, comedy, music, etc…  This year, under the direction and guidance of the Nicholls Players we will offer two sessions a musical and a comedy.

 

How to Eat Like a Child

Come join us in performing this hilarious musical romp through the joys and sorrows of being a child!  How to Eat Like a Child is based on the Viking book of the same name by Delia Ephron. Children give 23 lessons in such subjects as “how to beg for a dog,” “how to act being sent to your room,” and “how to act hysterically. Sign up your up-and-coming singers, actors, and dancers to perform in this hilarious and imaginative script dealing with childhood. The summer camp will include rehearsals and performance of the play, as well as acting classes and music direction.

Dates: June 2 through 29, 2014

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Tickets now available for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, performed by the Performing Arts summer camp!

  • Single performance! Friday July 25, 2014 @ 7 pm.
  • Danos Theater, Talbot Hall (map)
  • $10 each. Tickets sold at door or at the Continuing Education Office on campus. (map)

Come join us in performing William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream! One of Shakespeare’s most famous comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream follows two couples, a troupe of hapless actors, and the mischievous fairies that inhabit the forest. Sign up your up-and-coming actors to perform in this great love story with a very fun twist. The summer camp will include rehearsals and performance of the play, as well as acting classes to prepare young students to tackle Shakespeare’s language.
