Pets for Stress Relief

Every semester just before exams you are reminded of your elevated stress levels and how to relieve that stress. Whatever you have found works for you, (assuming it is healthy) continue to do it. However, consider another form of stress reduction that is also effective and fun…animals. Contact with animals has been shown to provide humans with many benefits in addition to stress reduction such as lowered blood pressure and heart rate, reduction of isolation and loneliness, and social ice-breakers.

If you are a pet owner, reduce your exam-time stress by going home and:

  • Talking to Fido or Simba
  • Petting Fluffy
  • Taking Fi Fi for a walk
