Welcome to the College Republicans
of Nicholls State University environmental initiatives page.
Unfortunately, a large number of people believe that republicans do
not care about the environment but that is quite untrue.
Republicans believe in preserving the environment just as much as
anyone else. Methods that we support for preserving the
environment include but is not limited to recycling, alternative
fuels, coastal restoration, and reforestation. That is why CRNSU
is
taking means to help preserve the environment. Just remember, we
cannot do it alone, we need your help.
College Republicans of Nicholls
State Universities' number one environmental initiative is recycling.
The organization is in the process of acquiring receptacles for the
collection of aluminum, glass,
plastic, and newspaper. These receptacles will be placed around
campus for anyone to use. The best part is that you do not have
to be a student to use them, anyone on campus or in the surrounding
areas that is interested in recycling can use the receptacles.
The collected products will then be brought to the appropriate
facility for proper recycling.
College Republicans of Nicholls
State University is also interested in reforestation and other tree program. The organization is in the
process of becoming a member of the
National Arbor Day Foundation.
We intend to plant trees every Arbor Day and for other special
dedications or events. We will plant trees on campus as well as
through out Thibodaux and surrounding areas. We hope that these
trees will not only add beauty to the places where we work, go to
school and live, but that it will help preserve our environment.

College Republicans of Nicholls State University will also be
participating in other environmental initiatives. We are
interested in coastal restoration and the use of alternative fuels.
There is not much we can do for alternative fuels except for promoting
candidates who can make a positive impact in the field as well as
educate the general public on these alternative fuels. Coastal
restoration on the other hand we can help. It is not the easiest
thing for us to help with, but we
can put a conceive effort into participating in already established events such as the Christmas
