Financial Aid

Nicholls State University offers a number of financial aid programs to help students pay for college. Visit the Office of Financial Aid to learn more about grants, loans, scholarships and student employment.

Scholarships for culinary majors

To apply for one of the following scholarships, complete the Scholarship Application Form 2009-2010 (Excel file) and return it to 107 Gouaux Hall. Students will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

  Eastman/Auto-Chlor Scholarship
The Auto-Chlor Scholarship of $2,400 is awarded to a full-time culinary arts major in the bachelor’s degree program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  Chef John Folse & Company Scholarship
The Chef John Folse & Company Scholarship of $1,250 is awarded to a Nicholls culinary student. The student must receive a recommendation from a John Folse Culinary faculty member and from a Nicholls faculty member not associated with the culinary institute. The student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be enrolled full-time.
   
  Bite of the Arts Scholarships
Four $500 and four $1,000 Bite of the Arts Scholarships are awarded to culinary arts majors with a minimum 2.5 GPA. The students must be enrolled full-time. High school GPA and ACT scores will be considered if applicant has completed fewer than 30 hours of college credit.
  Chef John Folse Scholarship Dinner
One $500 and one $1,000 scholarship are awarded to culinary arts students. The students must receive a recommendation from a John Folse Culinary faculty member and from a Nicholls faculty member not associated with the culinary institute. The students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be enrolled full-time. Note: The availability of these scholarships is dependent on revenues generated each spring.
  Louise R. Falgout Memorial Scholarship in Culinary Arts
This scholarship of $1,000 per year is awarded to a female junior or senior enrolled full-time in the John Folse Culinary Arts program. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA and demonstrate financial need.
  Boysie and Joy Bollinger Endowed Scholarship in Culinary Arts
This $500 scholarship is awarded to a freshman who is qualified for the TOPS program. The student must be a Louisiana resident and be enrolled full-time in the John Folse Culinary Institute. Two letters of reference (not including John Folse Culinary Institute faculty) must be submitted. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA. The $500 scholarship may be renewed for four years or eight semesters.
  Jr. ACF (American Culinary Federation) Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled full-time in the John Folse Culinary Arts program. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Preference will be given to members of Jr. ACF.
