Picnic Swap Meal Program for Campus Residents

Nicholls Dining Services is proud to offer picnic packages for the Housing and Residence Life students who want to get outside and enjoy the day or participate in a Residence Hall Association or Housing and Residence Life planned event.  These packages may be purchased using your Colonel Card meal plan privileges (cafeteria meal for the picnic meal or declining balance dollars).  Please read the guidelines listed below.  These step by step directions will ensure that your picnic plans are successful and well coordinated.

Guidelines:

  • Only on-campus housing students with meal plans can participate in the Picnic Program.  Other student organizations may order picnic supplies through the catering office at 448-4514.
  • All requests must be received at least 2 weeks prior to the proposed event date.  Dining Services reserves the right to deny a date selected due special cafeteria programming or a heavy catering schedule.  It is always good to check on your dates several weeks in advance and reserve.
  • All requests must be made through the Nicholls Catering Office located in the cafeteria dining room and picked up between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • There must be at least 25 participants for an event, but no more than 300.
  • Dining Services does not supply charcoal, lighter fluid, and/or matches.
  • Grilling utensils must be requested beforehand, and must be returned after the event.
  • The Picnic Program is for residence hall and La Maison Du Bayou students with meal plan privileges and/or declining balance dollars.
  • The Picnic Program coordinators must present the Catering Office with a listing of all students participating.  The list must be submitted 5 working days in advance of the event.  This list must be typed and include the participant’s first name, middle initial, last name, and residence hall.  This list should be in a excel spreadsheet and emailed to nsu.catering@nicholls.edu.
  • Schedule your outdoor picnic site with the Campus Reservation Office located in the Student Union at least two weeks in advance.

NOTE:  Students participating in a picnic and using their Colonel Card meal privileges will not be able to use their meal plan in the cafeteria during the meal time in which the picnic is scheduled.
