Our Graduates are in High Demand
Geomatics (geospatial technologies) is listed as one of the Top 3 emerging industries by the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Department of Education.
Our petroleum services programs have served the needs of Louisiana offshore oilfield workers for more than 40 years, and alumni return to recruit current students.
Welcome to the Department of Applied Sciences, a department administering unique programs in two technological areas in efforts to meet local, state and national needs. Geomatics, and petroleum services are Louisiana one of a kind programs offered here at Nicholls.
Geomatics is the science of surveying and mapping. Geomatics professionals are land surveyors, construction surveyors, mappers and planners, the core of what is needed to rebuild New Orleans and coastal Louisiana. Students train on the latest state-of-the-art instruments and are instructed by highly qualified faculty.
The Geomatics Program is accredited by the Applied Science Accreditation Commission (ASAC) of ABET
