With technological advances and increasing safety regulations, major oil companies are in need of degreed professionals with technical and managerial skills.
Nicholls State University offers a Petroleum Services program that allows offshore employees to continue working a seven-on/seven-off shift schedule while earning degrees as full- or part-time students. As opposed to traditional technology programs, the Nicholls Petroleum Services curriculum aims to prepare students for the operations segment of the industry rather than engineering aid positions. The majority of Petroleum Services students leave the program with significant promotions and increased job opportunities.
