With technological advances and increasing safety regulations, major oil companies are in need of degreed professionals with technical and managerial skills. Nicholls State University offers a Petroleum Services program that allows offshore employees to continue working a seven-on/seven-off shift schedule while earning degrees as full- or part-time students. As opposed to tradition technology programs, the Nicholls Petroleum Services curriculum aims to prepare students for the operations segment of the industry rather than engineering aid positions.
