The Nicholls Petroleum Services program is uniquely designed to cater to professionals working 7-on/7-off schedules. All coursework is taught on alternating weeks to allow students to attend classes on their days off.
Crew change day on Wednesday is preferable. Students attend Petroleum Services and Safety courses on Thursdays and Tuesdays. On Fridays and Mondays, student attend other required courses, such as English, Geology, Biology, History and Mathematics. Many courses are online or Web-enhanced to provide students virtual classroom opportunities.
Students working on a 14-on/14-off schedule can be accommodated by special arrangement.
There are several options for working students in the program. Examples are as follows:
- Students can attend A classes OR B classes every other week alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Students may also attend classes only on Tuesday (as shown in yellow on the chart) OR attend classes only on Thursday (as shown in blue on the chart).
- Students may also participate in hybrid classes, independent study and traditional web classes.
- Some traditional “face to face” classes are video recorded & streaming each week as well.
