Degree Requirements

Graduate coursework includes 40 academic hours plus nine hours of practicum/internship credit. Graduate courses cover topics such as:

  • Educational research
  • Administration of school counseling
  • Counseling and psychotherapy theories
  • Psychology of child and adolescent development
  • Group counseling
  • Career and lifestyle development
  • Counseling strategies with children and adolescents
  • Basic facilitative skills
  • Abnormal psychology
  • Psychology of personality
  • Marriage and family therapy
  • Professional ethics

In addition, a master’s comprehensive examination is required.
