  1. Improve the quality of undergraduate beginning students.
  • For the fall 2010 semester, the total number of first-time freshman students whose ACT composite scores were 28 or higher increased by 34 percent, while the average ACT score of full-time, first-time freshmen students increased from 21.56 to 22.1. The maintenance of racial diversity among first-time freshman students increased from 25.66 percent last year to 26.67 percent in fall 2010.
  1. Improve prudent utilization by students of all available financial aid resources and the effective use of financial aid resources in recruitment and retention of students consistent with campus enrollment goals.
  • According to the 2010 ACT survey, availability of financial aid information and financial aid services were higher than the national and UL system averages. We also implemented the new Direct Lending loan program, which improved efficiency and shortened the amount of time for loan delivery. Through the new financial aid module in the Banner system, all student information is available online.
  1. Increased quality and quantity of new transfer student enrollment.
  • For the Fall 2009 semester, 299 new transfer students enrolled at Nicholls. For the Fall 2010 semester, 335 new transfer students enrolled, for a 4.72% increase.
  1. Improve phone, mail, electronic, and in-person services for prospective, continuing, transfer and returning students in all areas of enrollment services.
  • A comprehensive media strategy will be researched and implemented.
  1. Improve utilization and effectiveness of scholarships in recruiting and retaining students.
  1. Increase the number of Veterans enrolling at Nicholls.
