“Oedipus the King”

The Nicholls Players will perform the Greek tragedy, “Oedipus the King,” Thursday, Oct. 25, through Saturday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. in Talbot Theater. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for general admission.

“Oedipus the King” by Sophocles is the story of a man who is destined to kill his father and marry his mother. Fate, free will and family relationships are explored in this version of the play, adapted by Dr. Myron Tuman and directed by Dr. Stanley Coleman. The performance aims to create a strong “common cultural experience” for many students, whose instructors were encouraged to incorporate Greek culture into their lessons throughout this semester.
