“Life of Pi” Discussion

A new book club, sponsored by Ellender Memorial Library and its Friends organization, will meet for its first discussion session at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Ellender Room on the library’s first floor.

Faculty, staff, students and community members are encouraged to read this semester’s selection, “Life of Pi” by Yann Martel, and share their understanding of the book at the discussion.

“Life of Pi” is the winner of the Man Booker Prize and a tale of a young Indian boy who decides with his family to seek a better life in Canada. They sell the family zoo and board a ship, bringing along some of their animals. When the ship sinks, Pi begins a journey of oceanic survival alone in a lifeboat with only a Bengal tiger for a companion.

Each semester, the book club will announce a different book selection and hold a discussion session.
