“Gabrielle”
Kick off 2008 Jubilee with a film!
The Nicholls International Film Club and the Tournées Festival of new French films on campus will present “Gabrielle” at 6:30 p.m. in LeBijou Theater.
“Gabrielle” is a movie based on the novel “The Return†by Joseph Conrad. The film is set before World War I and tells the story of the dissolution of a loveless marriage. “Gabrielle†is the grand finale of The Tournées Festival, a celebration of French film, culture and diversity. Glen Pitre and Michelle Benoit, owners of Coté Blanche Productions, will discuss international filmmaking and introduce the feature film.
The Tournées Festival was made possible with the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Ministry Culture. Its sponsors include the Florence Gould Foundation, the Grand Marnier Foundation, Highbrow Entertainment, agnès b. and the Franco-American Cultural Fund. This program was supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Houma Regional Arts Council.
