Nocturne

Enjoy an evening of music while helping Nicholls students!

The music faculty of the Nicholls School of Fine Arts will present Nocturne, a recital benefiting music scholarships, on Friday, April 4.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30 in the Talbot Theater lobby, followed by the 7:30 recital.

A variety of performance media and historical musical styles, all showcasing the talents of Nicholls music faculty, await the concertgoer. The program will include performances by violinist James Alexander, adjunct instructor of music; harpsichordist Carol Britt, director of the School of Fine Arts and associate professor of music; percussionist Eric Gueniot, instructor of music and assistant director of bands; vocalists Kenneth Klaus, professor of music and director of choral activities, and Charlotte Pipes, associate professor of music; alto saxophonist Paula Van Goes, instructor of music; trombonist Cristina Mendoza, instructor of music and assistant director of bands; and pianists Luciana Soares, assistant professor of music, Donna Sammarco, instructor of music, and Fran Hebert, instructor of music.

A coffee and dessert reception will follow the recital in the theater lobby.Several sponsorship levels are available. At the “Serenade” level, the donor will receive eight tickets to Nocturne as well as a unique premium — a private violin and piano recital presented by Alexander and Soares. Profits from the $1,250 “Serenade” level will be used exclusively to support piano majors. A gift of $800 places the guest at the “Polonaise” level, which includes eight tickets to Nocturne. A $500 gift designates the “Mazurka” level and includes four tickets to Nocturne.

Individual tickets to the concert and receptions are available at $50 each. Cocktail attire is requested.

During the cocktail reception, guests will be able to participate in a silent auction featuring original photographs and other works of art. Final bids for the silent auction will be placed during the intermission of the recital.
