Don’t miss the visit of a world renowned pianist!

Leon Bates, often described as a brilliant, versatile and powerful pianist, will lecture, teach and perform during his visit to Nicholls on Wednesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 3.

At 8:35 a.m. April 2, Bates will lecture on African-American and personal compositions, followed by a 10:45 a.m. master class. Bates will perform at a 7:30 p.m. concert on April 3. Admission to the concert is free for Nicholls faculty, staff and students and $10 for the general public.

Bates has earned a place on the international concert circuit, having toured in the United States, Canada, Italy, France, Austria, Ireland, England and Africa. Many of the major U.S. symphonies have welcomed his accompaniment, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Cleveland Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony.

His European symphonic resume is equally extensive. A partial listing includes the Vienna Symphony, the Basel Symphony, the Radio Orchestra of Dublin, the Strasbourg Symphony and the Orchestra Sinfonica dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

The Leon Bates lecture, master class and concert are part of Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities.
